This past weekend, Jay was able to play in his competetive soccer team tournament. It was up in Memphis & teams came from all around (Arkansas, Missouri & Illinois were on license plates).
In his rec team games, he's been noticing that his ankle has been killing him! He has gotten really mad at himself b/c he hasnt been able to play like he wants, can run hard like he used to. He says for a few weeks, walking & running has been bothering him. We've had it looked at & there's nothing structualy that he can see that would be causeing the pain (no injury)...thinks it may be something like arthritis in his joints. We're looking into finding a specialist to take him to.
This soccer tournament (w/ the help of a great lace-up ankle brace & ibuprofen) helped rebuild his confidence in his soccer playing. Friday night, he scored the 2 goals in the game & helped the team in their victory. (It had rained all day & was very wet! All the boys were soaked!) The final score was 2:1! Jay told me, "It's great to be back, mom!" lol That cracked me up! Saturday, it was very muddy! The boys love playing like that, but as a parent, it looked very dangerous! They were sliding all over! He wasnt able to score in the Sat. game. The whole team played really well & hard. They lost, though. That's always a bummer. BUT, these teams we are playing in these tournaments are Club Soccer teams & practice all the time together. We have a few practices with the whole comp. team. These guys all still play in rec soccer during the week. We are always proud of their efforts when we go to these tournaments & they play as well as they do! More tournaments to come! :-)
